Intern with ¡HICA!

We’re constantly looking for bright, eager, and energetic interns to assist us with daily operations, seasonal events, and special projects. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about nonprofit organizations, social work, community organizing, immigration law, and Birmingham's Hispanic community. ¡HICA! has three general sessions of internships; spring, summer, and fall. Please note that you do not need to be a student to intern with ¡HICA!

CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION PROGRAM INTERN

The CIP intern is a position for a bilingual-bicultural Spanish/English individual who will assist the citizenship and immigration program primarily in filing DACA, Lawful Permanent Resident renewals and FOIA applications. Some evenings or weekends would be required for immigration clinics, or outreach events at ¡HICA! and in the community. This position would require direct contact with potential clients in need of immigration assistance. You will also learn about ¡HICA! and all its services to refer the constituent to the best options available for them.

Development and Marketing Internship

The Development and Marketing intern will gain valuable insight into the world of non-profit public relations, and communications by working directly with the Development and Marketing team and assisting in the implementation process of an organizational wide strategic communication plan that elevates ¡HICA!’s brand and profile in the community to its target audiences. This Intern requires a minimum commitment of 15 - 20 hours per week (flexibility with hours and weeks). Hybrid position (remote/in-office).

 

Empowering Communities Program Intern

Empowering Communities is seeking an intern this summer to provide support for the following program activities: Escalera (college readiness program), Latinx @ Work (workforce development program). This would involve research around the topics of college access, and workforce development, inputting case management data, assisting with workshops and courses, and community engagement.
